District intends to continue to operate the program as a single, District-wide model beyond 2015 - 16.
There have been different views in the soccer community around best structure. The District board, comprised of directors appointed or elected by the member clubs, agreed that a single District-wide model is better than having various clubs run teams. There was no consensus on any single club operating the teams, so the decision was taken to operate the teams directly by District, primarily through a committee, with all clubs invited to participate in the program's operation and oversight. District believes that with the participation and support of all the "feeder" clubs, the program will be as strong and integrated as possible.
We anticipate one team each for boys and girls.
Normally, we expect players to play at their own age level. This is usually best for their development, especially if there are higher levels of play available at their own age. However, particularly at the U-12 age, there may be a few players who are most appropriately placed at U13 Metro Select; this and higher levels are not available at U12. At all ages, to be approved to "play up" a player will normally have to be evaluated among the top three players at the higher age level. In order to be considered for "playing up", players (except U12) MUST attend player evaluations at their own age, and request to also attend evaluations at the higher age.
